The Pura Yoga programme is designed to maximise the benefits of the corresponding nutritional programme. Yoga is a system of whole body purification and during your time with us you will be guided through a carefully selected programme of asana (posture) work, pranayama (breathing) practices and a range of meditation and relaxation techniques. Your time 'on the mat' will complement the cleansing and nutritional aspect of the retreat and you will come away from each session a little lighter, a little softer, a little stronger and deeply relaxed.
The yoga programme consists of two daily yoga classes, each session is 1.5 hours duration. You will also have an evening meditation session to assist you in sleeping deeply, using your sleep hours to fully rejuvenate and refresh body and mind.
The programme is tailored so that everyone is equally included, whatever level of yoga practice they come to the retreat with. Individual yoga sessions and practice plans can also be arranged (at additional cost).
Our yoga programme is looked after by Oona Hawley. Oona has practised yoga since she was a child and is from a long yoga heritage, her grandfather being Persian-Indian and having passed teaching to her mother, a yoga teacher herself. Oona runs the North Devon Yoga Centre and teaches yoga at several retreat centres in the UK. Oona's teaching method is informed by her professional background in healthcare and her Sivananda, YogaCampus and British Wheel of Yoga teaching qualifications as well as post-graduate training in Yoga Therapy. She is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
